The Aeohan island is a large island surrounded by massive bronze ramparts. There are massive rock cliffs, that seem to stretch from sea to sky. There is a city on the island, in which there is the palace of the King, the Queen, and their children. The palace is filled with soft rugs and corded bedsteads.
ReplyDeleteWhen the crew opens the sack that has been given to Odysseus, the four winds fly out of the sack. The winds are so powerful that they blow the ship all the way from Ithaca back to the Aeolian island, and the crew must restart their entire journey.
The citizens of the Laestrygonian island are the Laestrygonians, There are hundreds of them, and they are massive giants, and cannibals. At first, they ate one of the three men sent to investigate. When the others ran back to the ship, they threw rocks at the men, and shattered most of the boats.
The Aeohan island is a great floating island with rock cliffs and bronze ramparts. The sack Aeolus gives Odysseus contains all of the winds. When the crew opens it, they escape and the squalls send the boat back to the Aeohan island. Aeolus thinks that the gods hate Odysseus so he doesn’t want to help him anymore. Laestrygonians, giants, Artacia, Antiphates, and the giant queen live on Laestrygonian land. Odysseus chooses a few good crewmembers to bring with him when he explores the island. They discover that the Laestrygonians are giants and the king eats one of the crewmembers. The other giants throw rocks and ruin the ships. Only Odysseus’s boat escapes. On the next island, Circe drugs Odysseus’s men and turns them into pigs. Hermes helped Odysseus out so when Odysseus drinks Circe’s potion, the drugs do not work. Odysseus tries to stab her, but she grasps his knees and treats him with warmth.
ReplyDeleteThe Aeohan island has many rocky cliffs and is surrounded by bronze ramparts. When the men open up the sack, which contains all of the winds except for the West Wind, the winds blow them back to the island where they started and they are forced to restart their journey from Aeolus' island. Laestrygonian island is inhabited by massive and ruthless giants. Some of the giants eat some of Odysseus' men while other giants throw huge rocks at Odysseus and his men. When Odysseus and his men reach the Aeaean island, they are at first relieved to be alive after their encounter with the giants. After several days, Odysseus decides that some of his men must go investigate the source of smoke on the island. Some of Odysseus' men, led by Eurylochus, go to investigate, and they are invited in to the house of Circe, which is the source of the smoke. Circe then drugs them and turns all of them in to animals, except for Eurylochus who remained outside. Eurylochus reports back to Odysseus and Odysseus goes to retrieve his men. On his way, Hermes intercepts him and gives him a potion that will make Circe's drugs useless. Odysseus enters Circe's house and when her drugs fail on him she treats him well. Circe treats Odysseus like Calypso treated him and Odysseus eventually convinces her to let him go home with his men.
ReplyDeleteInside the sack, were powerful winds that blew them back to where they had started and they had to restart their journey again from Aeolus' island. On Laestrygonian island, there are fierce giants who are also cannibals. They eat one of the men, and when the rest escape and head towards their ships, they throw rocks at the ships and damage most of them. Circe is a very tricky nymph. Odysseus' men arrive on her island and go to her door. She lets them in and makes them a potion and once they drink it, she waves her wand and turns them into swine. With Odysseus, she acted totally different. After he pulled his sword out, she started asking him a bunch of questions because no man ever avoided being turned into swine except for Odysseus. She grants Odysseus' command to turn his men back into actual men and gives him a way to get back home to Ithaca.
ReplyDeleteOn Odysseus' voyage home, his men are tired of being out so long and decide they are mad about how much stuff Odysseus has received from kings. They begin to take some things from a sack but what they do not realize is that this sack contains all of the winds except for the one that is carrying them home. When they open it, all these winds are released and a huge storm rises up. The sack holding these winds was what had kept them from encountering any storms on their journey home. These treacherous winds carried them right back to where they had come from, to the king that had put the winds in the sack for them in the first place. Unfortunately, no matter how much Odysseus begged the king to help them once more, he refused and sent them away. They soon reached the Laestrygonian's land. As they attempted to figure out if the people that lived there were civil or not, they found the king of the land. He soon attacked them and began to eat them away. His fellow giant-like people attacked them with huge rocks killing Odysseus' entire fleet. I think it is amazing that Odysseus' ship was able to escape because he cleverly left it outside of the bay, enabling him for a quick escape.

ReplyDeleteThe island is very big and rocky and has very blig cliffs with bronze ramparts. The crew and Odysseus are set off to sail and when Odysseus takes a nap the crew members open the sack. The crew members are very jealous and upset because the Kings give Odysseus a lot of stuff. The crew members think it is loot and money so they open up in the sack is the west wind. They winds are released and it screws up there path of getting home. They go right back to the island they were at and Odysseus keeps begging the Kings for one more chance and they refuse and he left to Laestrygonian's land and they were crazy people and they luckily escaped. He then stays with Circe for over a year.
